Today, FOX Tampa Bay joined us for our Sensory-Friendly Ugly Sweater Party, a thoughtfully designed holiday experience created specifically for our kiddos on the autism spectrum.
For many children on the spectrum, traditional holiday celebrations – crowded venues, loud music, bright lights, and unfamiliar environments – can be overwhelming. As a result, many families opt out altogether and children miss opportunities to participate in festive moments that others often take for granted.
This event helps change that reality.
Held in a calm, familiar, and supportive setting, the Sensory Friendly Ugly Sweater Party allows children to engage in holiday fun at their own pace. From wearing a favorite festive sweater to participating in hands-on holiday arts and crafts, each activity is designed to be flexible, low-pressure, and adaptable to individual sensory needs. Children are free to observe, participate briefly, or fully immerse themselves – whatever feels most comfortable for them.
This Sensory-Friendly Ugly Sweater Party & Holiday Arts and Crafts Event is more than a celebration – it’s a reminder that with the right supports in place, children with autism can fully participate in the traditions that make the season special.
