This Extension Builds Upon Partnership Established in Spring 2023
ABA Centers of Florida has extended its sponsorship with the Florida Panthers, on the tail of the team’s appearance in the 2023 NHL Stanley Cup Final. The extended agreement names the organization as the Panthers official autism education partner for the next two seasons, through June 2025.
As part of the agreement, ABA Centers of Florida will design a sensory room that will cater to the neurodivergent community, but that can be utilized by all attendees of Amerant Bank Arena. Located on the 300 Level (Upper Level), this room will be a space of solace where guests who may become overstimulated by the loud cheers and bright lights can find a few minutes of respite and can recenter themselves through the self-soothing toys and activities provided within the room. The sensory room will open to the public on Thursday, October 19, for the Panthers home opener.
For neurodivergent guests that would like to soothe-on-the-go, ABA Centers of Florida will also be supplying Amerant Bank Arena with sensory packs that will include headphones, fidget spinners, and other items to provide another layer overstimulation alleviation. Throughout the season, attendees can request a sensory pack through the arena’s guest services desk.
“As a South Florida native, I am proud to support our hometown sports heroes, but I am even more proud that the Panthers have chosen to champion a cause that affects so many children in our community,” said Christopher Barnett, CEO of ABA Centers. “With nearly 5% of children in Florida being on the spectrum, we want families impacted by autism to know that ABA Centers of Florida is here to give them the hope and the help that they need – quickly – and our partnership with the Panthers only helps us spread that message faster to the families that need it the most.”
On April 11, 2024, ABA Centers of Florida will take over Amerant Bank Arena as the presenting sponsor of Autism Awareness Night as the Panthers take on the Columbus Blue Jackets. Throughout the facility, the organization will install scaled mobile units of the strategically designed play spaces that can be found in each of its autism care clinics, so kiddos and their families can experience firsthand what autism care of the future looks like.
